Jim was dating Kim Boggs when Edward shows up. He and Esmeralda were the only people in the neighborhood to dislike Edward. Jealous of Kim's attraction to Edward, Jim planned a break-in in his parents' house and suggests Edward to help pick a lock, however when the burglar alarm hit, everyone but Edward escaped. Despite Kim's orders to turn back to get Edward, Jim ignored her, as he wanted Edward to get caught. When Kim got cut by accident, Jim became angry and thought Edward did it on purpose and attacks him. Kim, who was fed up with Jim's behavior around Edward, broke up with him and Jim went to his friends in a van to drink alcohol. Jim, driving in a drunken rage, almost runs over Kevin Boggs, Edward saves Kevin by pushing him out of the way, but accidentally cuts him. The neighbors witness the event, and think that Edward is attacking Kevin, Jim then assaults Edward. Edward than cuts Jim to defend himself and runs away as a mob forms. Jim, who now has obtained a literal gun, follows Kim in the mansion where Edward lived and brutally attacks him. Edward refuses to fight back, until he sees Jim hit Kim when she tried to intervene, Edward than becomes enraged and stabs Jim in the stomach and pushes him out of a window to fall to his death. To protect Edward, Kim tells the mob outside of the mansion that Jim and Edward had killed each other.
