  • In the original book, Mike is 9 years old. However, in the film, he is said to be 13, as mentioned in a newspaper prop and the script, making him the oldest child of the Golden Ticker finders.
  • His last name is a pun on the abbreviation for television.
  • In the original book and 1971, Mike showed an obsession with cowboys, but this version of Mike only shows an obsession with video games.
