Oogie Boogie is the main antagonist of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Oogie Boogie is a boogeyman in the form of a burlap sack filled with insects, spiders and a snake for a tongue. Oogie Boogie He is also apparently the "Shadow on the Moon at Night" as the shadow shown on the moon was an exact replica of him. He is also said to have been the king of his own holiday, Bug Day, which eventually fell out of favor, resulting in him moving to Halloween Town.

He is voiced by the late Ken Page.

Oogie Boogie is the only member of Halloween Town who is seems truly evil. After Lock, Shock and Barrel kidnapped Santa Claus they took him to Oogie Boogie, and the rest of the movie features him torturing him. After Jack Skellington shows up, finally having a moment of sense, Oogie Boogie in surprise and shock battles Jack with his gambling themed battle devices. Jack however, manages to pull a thread on Oogie Boogie, and it is revealed he is but a burlap bag of bugs. His bugs fall into his batch of stew. Many people believe that Oogie was a mob boss before he had died. Some say that when you see his lair that it is casino themed.

  • Oogie Boogie was inspired by The Moocher from Betty Boop.
  • Oogie was not present in Tim Burton's original poem that inspired the movie.
  • Oogie was originally going to be Dr. Finkelstein in a costume, who fabricated the Oogie Boogie persona to get revenge on Jack and Sally, but this idea was scrapped.
