Trivia[]
- Thackery's given name is a habitational name of Old Norse origin, and means "place/home with a thatched roof", referring to his home having a thatched roof. His surname, Earwicket, likely derives from multiple sources:
- In the film, the blades of his windmill home resemble crooked ears. In the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the chimneys of his home were described as resembling hare ears.
- "Wicket" has several meanings, including: an opening such as a door, gate, or window; the small arches through which balls are driven in croquet; in the British game cricket, it can refer to various locations used in the game such as the pitch (or playfield), and the derived term "sticky wicket" referring to a difficult or unpredictable situation.
