"That's the Life for Me" is the second song from the film, James and the Giant Peach. It is sung by all of the insects (without James) about how they want to live their lives. It is later reprised by all of the gang, including James. The first version is interrupted near the end when James' aunts are looking for their nephew, but the reprise is not.

Lyrics[]
Mr. Centipede: Bright lights, big city
That's where we gotta go
Where the food is great and the bugs are so pretty
I'd like to get my arms around a hundred or so
I'd hug 'em, squeeze 'em, hold 'em tight
Sleep all day, dance all night the bright lights and the big city
That's the life for me, yeah That's the life for...
Miss Spider: You little maggot
Have you never seen the moon
Gliding 'cross the western sky
A dead oak tree by the waterside
Putrid vapors rising
Mrs. Ladybug: That sounds lovely, dear
I'm sure we all agree
But I prefer the sunshine
A little park right in the center of the town
Flowers everywhere, children all around me
I'd love it!
Landing on a baby's cheek so warm
It's wonderful
Mrs. Ladybug and Glowworm: Wonderful
Mrs. Ladybug: That's the life for me
That's the life for me
That's the life, that's the life for me
Mr. Grasshopper: Elegant conversation
Mr. Centipede: Bright lights, big city
Mr. Grasshopper: An elevated point of view
Mr. Centipede: That's where I'd go
Mr. Grasshopper: Intelluctual stimulation
[Spoken]
Mr. Centipede: Yeah, maybe for you.
Mr. Grasshopper: And someone you love to share it with you
Bugs: It would be wonderful, wonderful
That's the life for me
Bugs: That's the life for me
[Spoken]
Mr. Earthworm: You call that a life?
Bugs: That's the life for me
[Spoken]
Mr. Earthworm: It's no pile of dirt
Bugs: That's the life
That's the life
That's the life
That's the life for...
Mr. Centipede: That's the life for me
Mrs. Ladybug: That's the life for me
Mr. Grasshopper and Mr. Centipede: That's the life for me
Mrs. Ladybug and Miss Spider: That's the life for me
James: That's the life
All: That's the life
That's the life
That's the life for me!
